Secret Cement Society
In 2018, I created an installation that explores a hypothetical dystopian future in which a secret society exists. This society is overwhelmed by the fast-paced and technologically advanced world they inhabit, leading them to place great value on stillness, quietness, and simplicity.
Concrete is a textile used by this society to fabricate their lives with solemn, atemporal honour and worship. The installation is presented as a temple, with relics of this principle-based society on display. The installation aims to provoke reflection on the swiftness of modern living and the power of simplicity in a world that can often feel overwhelming.
